I attended VC 1942 through 1946 and have many, many fond memories of receiving first communion, boarding, the dormitories, Sister Java Nina and so many of the wonderful nuns who were our surrogate mothers. I boarded at Cabrini from 1944 through 1953 (age 3 through 7th grade). Had I stayed, I would have been in the 1959 graduating class. In those days, most of the nuns were Italian, many of whom worked with and/or knew St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. Mother Josephine still holds a special place in my heart today. Remember the hot lemonade with brandy(?) and an aspirin during cold season and the very itchy wool dark blue bathing suits? I am Beckie Tejada (Rebecca Tejada). My sister is Carmen Tejada, she sang and played the piano in high school while we were in the 8th grade. My teacher was Sr. Barthelomew. I was one of 4 that won a general excellence medal at graduation. Bishop Manning officated at our graduation. Carmen received a 4 year scholarship to Mt St Marys at the same graduation.
